Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: The pentagon-shape symbolizes the birth of the unit during the Global War on Terrorism and the unit’s location not far from the Pentagon. Red, white and blue are the national colors, whereas red is the color traditionally used by Sustainment units. The “V” is for the roman numeral “5,” also signifying victory; combined with the pentagon alludes to the unit designation “55.” The chevron represents support; interlaced with the inverted chevron suggests the unit’s mission of support and maintaining the victory.
