In 1811 the arms of Sparneck were changed to a very complicated and unclear composition. In 1819 new arms were made for Sparneck and Zell. These arms showed a quartered shield of blue and silver, with in the second quarter in gold a red heart and in the third in red a golden heart. The division of the shield is derived from the quartered shield of the Margraves of Nürnberg, but the black fields were changed into blue, the colours of Bayern.
