The arms are a combination of the arms of the Van Harscamp family and the local patron saint, St. Peter.

The village of Noville-les-Bois was oned by a number of families and due to marriage became a possession of the Van [[Harskamp|Harscamp]] family at the end of the 17th century. The family owned the village for about 100 years.

IN 1960 the local counci lapplied for the arms o fthe Lords of Fernelmont, the oldest known lords of the village. Their arms were identical to the arms of Brabant (they were bastards of Brabant) and thus the municipality applied for a red bend over the arms. The Heraldic Council rejected the proposal and proposed the arms of Van Harscamp instead, with the addition of the patron saint.
