The oldest seal dates from 1286 and already shows a King's head with two wings. All later seals until the 17<sup>th</sup> century show the same composition. In the 17<sup>th</sup> century the image was replaced by the imperial eagle. In 1698 the old figure was restored, and a female figure was added as a supporter behind the shield. The present arms were granted in 1961 and do no longer show the supporter.
