The oldest known seal of the village dates from 1751 and shows a shield with the letter R. The initial of the town is also used in a crowned shield on later seals. In late 1900 the local council applies for arms at the State Archives and asks to include reference to the many forests in the municipality (90% of the area at the time). The State Archives propose the above arms, which were adopted by the council in January 1901.
