The arms were granted in 1909 and are mainly canting (Eichel=acorn). The arms were based on the old seal of the village. The village was founded in the 13<sup>th</sup> century and was owned by the Odenheim monastery. The oldest seal dates from 1724 and, as all later seals, shows a oak branch with a huge acorn rising from a mountain. This makes it a canting image (Berg=mountain).
