Reichertshofen was made a town in 1449 and probably it had its first seal made. The seal is known from 1499 and shows two canting heron heads (Reiher=heron). The colours are known since the early 19<sup>th</sup> century and are most likely the Bavarian colours. The arms have thus basically never changed, although the image has changed with time, according to the fashion of the time.
