The arms are based on a late 14<sup>th</sup> century seal and show the local castle, built by the Counts of Hirschberg and destroyed in the 19<sup>th</sup> century. The village grew around the castle and in 1387 became a town. All later seals and images show the same composition, but the shape of the castle and rocks differs widely.
