Province : Oost-Vlaanderen
Incorporated into : 1975 Gent

Oostakke.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on September 17, 1953.

The lion in the arms is derived from the arms of the St. Bavo Abbey in Gent. The village of Oostakker was a possession of the abbey for many centuries (see also Lochristi, Sint Amandsberg and Sint Lievens Houtem).

St. Mary is the patron saint of Oostakker.
