NAMYSŁÓW
Province: Opole
County: Namysłów
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms of the city (German name Namslau) show the eagle of <a href="dld/schlesieSilezia]] above a red star. The oldest seals of the city, from the 13th and early 14th century show a demi-eagle above the star, but already in the middle of the 14th century the eagle became the complete eagle. In the 16th century theseals showed on the eagle a small escutcheon with some roses.
The latter arms were still shown by Hupp as the city arms, whereas the above arms are based on the older seal. Hupp also shows the eagle in more historically correct colours, but forgets the silver crescent, typical for the Silezian eagle.
