Blason de Labastide-Murat

Official blason

  • (fr) Coupé: au 1er d'azur à l'aigle impériale napoléonienne d'or, au 2e parti au I d'or au cheval cabré de sable et au II d'or au trinacria sicilien au naturel.

Origin/meaning

These are based on the arms of Joachim-Napoléon Murat, Marshal of France and Admiral of France under the reign of Napoleon. He was also the 1st Prince Murat, Grand Duke of Berg from 1806 to 1808, and King of Naples from 1808 to 1815. He was born in Labastide-Fortunière, which was named Labastide-Murat after him. The arms used by the municipality are based on the arms used by him as King of Naples.
