Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 15, 1978.

The three Indian headgear symbolise the first inhabitants of the region and are also a canting element. The fleur-de-lis symbolise St. Mary, patron saint of the town.

The shield is flanked by coffee branches, the main crop in the region.
