GRYFINO

Province: Pomorze Zachodnie
County: Gryfino

Arms (crest) of Gryfino

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city, which is first mentioned in 1278, but known from 1327. It shows already the griffin of Pommerania standing on a tree trunk. There is no star. The griffin is also show facing left. The next seal is known from 1339 and shows the griffin facing right (as it still does) and also the star appears. It can thus be concluded that the arms have not changed since.

Later seals all show the griffin and tree, the star sometimes disappears. The origin of the star or tree is not known.
