Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 26, 1984, but have been in use since the 19th century.

The arms show the local patron saint, St. George, killing a dragon. The saint first appeared on the local seal from 1714, but there are indications that a similar seal was used in 1701. Later seals all showed the saint. The colours were only determined in 1984 (arms above right), and were shown by Hupp in the 1920 as shown above left.
