Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 21, 1993.
The key and sword are the symbols of St Peter and St. Paul respectively. They are the patron saints of the cathedrals in Naumburg and Zeitz. The key and sword also formed the arms of the diocese of Naumburg-Zeitz, which was founded in 968
