Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on July 18, 2001. The red rose symbolises the local Rose Festival in May, where wax roses are distributed as asymbol against illnesses. The tradition started with the foundation of the chaplle devoted to Our Lady of the Roses. The wheat ears refer to the importance of agriculture, the wavy base symbolises the Alviela and Pernes rivers in the parish. The black shield refers to the fertile black soil.
