Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1938.

Vilani is first mentioned in 1495 as a manor, called then Welonen in German, later Wilon, Wiliany. In the 18th century the town developed.

In 1928 city rights were granted. The arms show a bee and a honeycomb. The bee symbolizes diligence, and the honeycomb symbolizes the result of diligence.
