WAANRODE
Province : Vlaams-Brabant
Incorporated into : 1977 Kortenaken
Official blazon
In sabel een leeuw van goud, genageld en getongd van keel, een tournooikraag van lazuur met vijf hengsels over den leeuw heen.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 15, 1926.
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from the 14th or 15th century. The arms show the lion of the Duchy of Brabant with a red label. The meaning of the label is not certain, but it is the common symbol for a non-direct heir to the count, duke etc.
