The arms are based on the oldest seal of Diegem, which was made in 1507 on request of the local council. Previously the councillors used their own personal seals. The arms are identical to the arms of the Dukes of Brabent. Diegem historically was a possession of the Dukes of Brabant, but the estate has been ruled by different families as vassals.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 26, 1902.

The arms are based on the oldest seal of Diegem, which was made in 1507 on request of the local council. Previously the councellors used their own personal seals. The arms are identical to the arms of the Dukes of Brabent. Diegem historically was a possession of the Dukes of Brabant, but the estate has been ruled by different families as vassals.
