Origin/meaning
The current version of the arms was officially adopted on 25 March 2003.
The arms of the town show a castle with in the gate the Polish eagle. The arms date from the 14th century, and did not change until 1924.
On September 23, 1924 the town decided to replace the Polish eagle by the black Prussian eagle (see image below). After 1945 the Poloish eagle was restored. [[meseritz.jpg width="248" height="274">
