Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 30, 1934.

The arms show in the right part the water-lily leaves of (old) arms of the Counts of Bentheim, who in 1262 inherited the County Tecklenburg. The leaves always remained the symbol of the County and can also be seen in the arms of the city Tecklenburg.
