Province : Vlaams-Brabant
Incorporated into : 1977 Herent

Wapen van Winksele/Coat of arms (crest) of Winksele

Official blazon

In zwart, een roodgenagelde en getongde omgewende gouden leeuw, vergezeld rechts naar de punt, van de letter V ook in goud.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 24, 1912.

The arms show the lion of the Duchy of Brabant, with the letter W the town's initial. The combination already appeared on the oldest seals of the village, dating from 1309, 1424 and 1539. The village was a possession of the Dukes of Brabant until the late 16th century.
