History: The Name was used by a Destroyer in service 1945-1961 and a Frigate of the Kortenaer-Class in service from 1981-1998. The Frigate was then sold to the United Arab Emirates.

In goud een kraai, zittende op een heining, beide van sabel. Als emleemspreuk DOE WEL EN ZIE NIET OM in Latijnse letters van sabel op een lint van goud.
Origin/meaning
The arms show the arms of Admiral Piet Hein, which can be considered canting. A magpie was often called a 'pietje' in Ducth and a fence is taken from omheining - hein. The badge was approved on 13 December 1951.
