Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 10, 1819 and confirmed on July 9, 1840 and June 6, 1988.
The arms show St. Quirinus, as the local church has some important relics of the saint.
As no colours were specified the arms were granted in the Dutch national colours. After the independence of Belgium in 1830 the arms were confirmed, but the colours were not changed.
