Origin/meaning

On October 24, 1477 King Vladislaus II bestowed the rights of a Townlet on a mining settlement which originated in the 13th century. In 1594 it was promoted to the status of a Mining Town by Rudolph II.

The arms show the Royal Bohemian lion and on the other side a crosier with miner's tools. In the current version the base of the left half shows a mine, in an older version it showed a wall. The crosier refers to the fact that the village was a possession of the Osek and Teplice Abbeys in the 13th and 14th century.
