SERRANA
State : São Paulo
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 19, 1976.
The three mountain peaks are canting: Serrana means region of the ridges; the cross evokes the cross erected by the first settlers when they came to the region and the fleur de lys are the attribute of the Blessed Virgin, patron saint of the city.
The supporters show that coffee and sugar cane are important agricultural products of the region.
The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the Latin motto "EX ALTO AD SIDERA" (from a high place to the stars).
