Official blazon
- (1818) Van goud, beladen met een klimmende leeuw van sabel, gekeerd ter linker ziide van het schild, zijnde deszelfs achterste pooten tot aan de knien van keel, getongd van hetzelfde en houdende in deszelfs voorste klaauwen een laurierkrans.
- (1843) Eenen gulden schild, waerop eenen zwarten leeuw ter 's linker hand gekeerd, met roode achterste beenen, geklauwd en getongd desgelyks, houdende met zyne klauwen eenen lauwerkrans, naer het leven.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 4, 1818 and were confirmed on August 2, 1843.
The arms were applied for by the local council in 1814, but without any further explanation. The arms were granted as such and confirmed after the Belgian independence. The meaning or origin, however is not known. Neither are there any seals known of the former council prior to the 19th century.
