State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Additions : 1972 Selfkantkreis (1932 Geilenkirchen, Heinsberg), Erkelenz

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on September 3, 1973.

The arms show in the upper part the silver lion of the Counts and city of Heinsberg and the black lion of the counts of Jülich (and the city of Geilenkirchen). The lower part is taken from the old arms of the county Erkelenz.
