Official blazon
- (1818) Van lazuur beladen met een burg, staande op een terras alles van goud.
- (1846) Fascé de gueules et d'or de six pièces, au canton d'hermines.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 24, 1818 and again on December 20, 1846.
The old arms show a castle ruin. The meaning of these arms is not known.
The colours are the Dutch national colours, as in 1813 the mayor applied without indicating the colours. The arms were thus granted in the national colours.
In 1846 the arms were changed. The new arms show the arms of the first known Lords of Petegem from the Van Beveren family until 1268.
