Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on January 3, 1979.

Most of the area belonged in early medieval times to imperial forests, which is symbolized by the orb and the oak branch. Later large parts of the area were ruled by either the Lords of Sickingen (balls) or the Lords von Hacke (rainbows). The bordure is a common symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde
