Origin/meaning
The arms were registered on June 14, 2000.
The arms are partially based on symbolism originating in the town's historical seals. The 1878 municipal seal displays St. Wenceslaus, the patron of the town and the local wooden church. This was translated into the arms in the form of the first field containing a ducal cap/crown, an attribute of St. Wenceslaus, above two crossed swords. The blue field beneath the swords and crown points to the Korytnice stream which runs through the town.
An earlier seal from 1687, containing a plough blade and coulter, was unused in the design as these agricultural charges are extremely common both in historical seals and contemporary Czech heraldry. Instead the author chose to include the red field with the silver waterlily leaf from the arms of the von Kaunitz (Czech: Kounicové) family which owned the town during the period when the seal was created.
The final silver field with a blue plum on a green stalk is a reference to the traditional cultivation of said fruit in the town and its subsequent distilling into Slivovice brandy.
