The Badge is based on the Arms of Abraham Ferdinand van Zijll (1642-1697)., a Captain of the Amsterdam Admirality. He served in many Expeditions and Naval Battles. He died of disease in the West Indies on 3 August 1697. The Badge was approved on 18 August 1952.

Origin/meaning
