SÃO JOSÉ DOS CAMPOS
State : São Paulo
Portuguese | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 3, 1979
The first quarter shows in a golden field, four heads of Guaianases native Indians, on the arms of the Honorable José de Anchieta (a Jesuit priest ), who founded the village São José in the 16th century .
The second quarter shows a lily and a branch crossed one by another and a silver wavy bar for the Paraíba river.
The lower part of the shield shows the attributes of a group of early 16th century explores in the area, a gun, sword, axe and flag.
The supporters are two militiamen of the Third regiment created for the North of São Paulo province. They stand between branches of coffee plants, a major crop in the area.
The motto can be translated as "Generous are my air and my land."
