State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Göttingen (until 1973 Duderstadt)
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Gieboldehausen

Bodensee.jpg

Official blazon

Schild geteilt; oben in Rot zwei silberne Pfähle, belegt mit je zwei übereinanderstehenden schwarzen Eisenhüten; unten in Silber ein blauer (plessischer) Maueranker.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 24, 1951.

The arms are a combination of the arms of the families Von Plesse and Von Amelunxen. The village was first mentioned in 1333 as a loan to Diedrich von Bodenhusen from the Lords of Plesse. From 1597 until the 19th century the village was owned by the Von Amelunxen family.
