Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
UNSTRUT-HAINICH KREIS (UH)
State : Thüringen
Additions : Langensalza, Mühlhausen
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 22, 1996.
The arms combine elements from the arms of the territories to which the district historically belonged : the eagle of the city of Mühlhausen, the lion of the Dukes of Thüringen in the second quarter, in the third quarter the wheel of the State of Mainz and in the fourth quarter the arms of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen.
Literature : Linder and Olzog, 1996.
