Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
AMT LANK
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Neuss (until 1974 Grevenbroich)
Incorporated into : 1969 Meerbusch
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1952, but the first designs were already made in 1936.
The arms show in the chief the cross of Köln, to which the area historically belonged. The lower half shows two typical crops of the area, asparagus and strawberries. As there were six municipalities in the Amt, there are three strawbwerries and three bunches of asparagus.
The saint is St. Stephan, patron saint of Lank.
To the Amt belonged:
- Lank-Latum
- Ossum-Bösinghoven
- Strümp
- Ilverich
- Langst-Kierst
- Nierst
