WENDUINE
Province : West-Vlaanderen
Incorporated into : 1977 De Haan
Official blazon
Van sabel met een bruinvisch van zilver doorboord met twee harpoenen van goud schuinkruiselings geplaatst de punt naar beneden.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 12, 1936.
The arms are based on the seal of the local fisheman's guild from 1425. This seal shows a fishing vessel with on the mast a small shield with a porpoise with two spears. The motto was 'Med tarpoen zonder pardoen' (with a harpoon and no remorse).
The arms as used by the municipality. |
