Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Belgium - Belgische Gemeentewapens / Armorial de Belgique |
BEVER
Province : Vlaams-Brabant
Official blazon
Gevierendeeld 1 en 4 in zilver, drie roode dwarsbalken, 2 en 3 in zilver, drie roode disselbijlen, de beide bovenste afgewend,
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 15, 1923.
The arms are those of the Croy-Renty family, as the village was owned by different branches of the Croy family since 1516. The arms already appear on the local seal from 1524.
The municipality asked for the arms to be granted in 1913, and received arms in 1914. The grant, however, was never issued due to the First World War. Only in 1923 the arms were finally granted.
