Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 15, 1949.

The village had no own seals, so in 1949 the arms of the builder of the local castle were adopted as arms for the municipality. The castle was built in 1588 by Richard van Hamel van Elderen and his arms can be seen on his tomb in the local church.

Literature: Servais, 1955
