SAINT-DENIS-LÈS-MARTEL
Département : Lot
French | De sinople à deux bandes ondées abaissées d'argent, accompagnées au canton senestre du chef d'un casque romain du même; au franc-quartier de gueules à la croix cléchée, vidée et pommetée de douze pièces d'or. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 2019.
The wavy bends symbolise the Sourdoire and Tourmente rivers in the municipality, on a green field symbolising the agricultural character of the municipality.
The Roman helmet refers to a battle between the Romans and the Gauls that took place here during the Roman conquest of Gaul.
The cross is the symbol of the Occitanie region in which the village is situated.
Two other designs were proposed in 2019:

Proposal |
In these proposals the additional symbols mean:
- the dogs are taken from the arms of the Lachieze de Briance, former lords of the village
- the mallerts refer to the town of Martel
- the chain is a symbol for St. Denis, the local patron saint
