Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 17, 1987.
The main symbol on the arms is a so-called perron, which was used in the town square as a symbol of a city. Stokkem was the only city in the municipality and has a perron on its main square. The perron is also the symbol of the Diocese of Liège, to which the area belonged for many centuries. The small shield shows the arms of the Loon county, to which the area historically belonged.
