Official blazon
In sinopel een paalsgewijs geplaatste tropedo van zilver, aan de onderzijde omstrengeld door twee slangen van hetzelfde en halverwege de hoogte lopend over een vlucht van goud. Als embleemspreuk AB ORTU AD OCCASUM SOLIS (van zonsopkomst tot zonsondergang) in Latijnse letters va zilver op een lint van sinopel. Approved 4 August 1967.
Origin/meaning
The Torpedo symbolises the Role of the Ship as a Torpedo Tender. The Addition of the Wings and Snakes makes an allusion to the Rod of Mercury and the name of the Ship. Mercuur beeing the Dutch name of the Roman God Mercury. The Motto translates as "From Dawn to Dusk".
The Badge as used by three Mercuur all Torpedo Tenders. 1st in service 1935-1972, 2nd in service 1973-1987 and 3rd in service since 1987.
