Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
ALBERSWEILER
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Südliche Weinstrasse
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Annweiler am Trifels
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 2, 1937.
The arms show the common combination of the Lion of the Pfalz and the diamonds of Bayern (Wittelsbach family), for the Princes of the Pfalz were also Kings of Bayern (see also for another example Simmern). The combination appeared on the oldest seal of the village, known from 1531. The seal was used until 1789.
