Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
ALSDORF
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Aachen
Additions : 1972 : Bettendorf, Hoengen
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1936 and are based on the arms of Goswin von Ailstorp from 1439.
The miner's hammers replaced one of the lions in the family arms and symbolise the mining in the area. The seal of Alstorp from the 14th century showd only the St. Mary.
