Origin/meaning

The origins of this symbol go back to the year 1065 when the Polish King Boleslaw Smialy founded a Benedictine Convent in this area - erecting a monastery complex for them - thus forming a new settlement.
The original arms for Mogilno showed three crosses. The three crosses represent the Benedictines - the first settlers. Mogilno was then a property of the Benedictines so the three crosses seam to be very natural and logical symbol for the town.
