Origin/meaning
Bischofswerda was founded by the Bishops of Meissen in the 12th century, and is mentioned as a city in 1361. The arms are based on a 14th century seal and show the crossed crosiers as a symbol for the Bishops of Meissen. The meaning or origin of the stars is not known.
