Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 14, 1911 and confirmed in 1970.
The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city. Freudenberg received city rights in 1456 and the oldest seal dates from 1473. The seal already shows a castle. As no colours were known, the arms were granted in 1911 in blue and gold, the colours of Nassau, as the city was part of the county of Nassau-Siegen.
