Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 28, 2000.
The river represents the Mondego River in Coimbra; the corn represents the fertile fields of the freguesia; the pine from represents the pine forests. The two main figures in the centre, mitre and relic represent the church and the former residence of the bishop ("Bispo" means Bishop). The green colour represents the fertile fields near the Mondego River.
