Origin/meaning

The arms are based on elements from the arms of the different municipalities in the Samtgemeinde. The monolith in the chief is derived from the arms of Lähden. The horn is taken from Herzlake, whereas the thorn bush is taken from Dohren. The wavy division line symbolises the three rivers in the area, the Hasse, Mittel- and Südradde.
The red and gold of the chief also symbolise the State of Münster, to which the area belonged from medieval times until 1803. The green symbolises the gree character of the municipality.
