Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 31, 1926 and confirmed on December 27, 1982.

The arms are derived from the arms of the Barons of Obin, Lords of Wasseignes in the 17th and 18^th century. The arms also appeared on the seal of the local council from the 17^th century. Previously the council used a seal with a lion, derived from the arms of Namur. The only difference with the arms of the Obin family is that in the arms of the municipality the lower eagle faces right (all three face the same direction), whereas in the arms of the family the lower eagle faces left.
